How it works

01

Look up the current requirement

US: pure white. UK: light grey or cream. Schengen: light background, most consulates prefer grey. The tool outputs whatever colour you set.

02

Drop the photo

The tool separates the subject and lays them on the chosen background. About twenty seconds.

03

Crop to the country spec

US wants 2 by 2 inches with the head 50 to 69 percent of the frame. UK and EU want 35 by 45 millimetres. The editor handles both.

Things that help

—If the original photo has the wrong head proportion, no background editor fixes that. Reshoot instead.
—Do not wear glasses. Most countries now reject them outright.
—Print at 300 DPI. A home printer can produce submission-quality photos on matte paper.
—Some countries want the photo taken within the last six months. Check yours before reusing an older one.

Common questions

Can I just replace the background on a photo I already took?

Yes. That is what this does. As long as the original has reasonable lighting and the subject is clearly separated, the result is submission-ready.

What if my photo has a coloured background from a studio?

Studio photos cut out cleanly because the lighting is even. The result is cleaner than a phone photo against a wall.

Do I need to install anything?

No. The tool runs in any browser, including on mobile.
