Extracting a transparent PNG from any image
A transparent PNG drops onto any surface. Here is how to turn a JPG, WebP, or another PNG into one that carries real alpha.
No signup. No watermark. Processed in a browser.
Drop the source image
JPG, PNG, WebP, or BMP. Output is always PNG with alpha.
How it works
Drop the source file
Whatever the format. The tool accepts JPG, PNG, WebP, and BMP on the input side.
Wait for the cutout
The tool runs a segmentation model, generates the alpha channel, and returns the result. About twenty seconds for a typical image.
Verify the alpha
Open the result on a checkerboard or a coloured background. If the checkers show through around the subject, the alpha channel is real. If the background reads white, it failed somewhere.
Things that help
Common questions
What is the difference between a transparent PNG and a PNG with a white background?
A transparent PNG has alpha values per pixel. A white-background PNG has solid white pixels. The first drops onto any colour surface. The second always shows white behind the subject.
Can I convert a transparent PNG back to JPEG?
Yes, but the transparent areas will become solid white. JPEG does not support alpha.
Why does my transparent PNG show up as black in one app?
Some apps render alpha as black instead of showing the underlying surface. The file is still correct. Test it in a browser or a proper editor to confirm.
Do I need to compress the output?
PNG is lossless so the file is larger than a JPEG would be. For web use, converting to WebP at 85 percent quality shrinks the file by 25 to 35 percent without visible quality loss.
