Amazon product photo requirements and how to meet them

Use Remova to replace the background with pure white. Set the output to White, process, and download. The tool outputs a JPEG ready for Amazon.

Steps

  1. 01

    Understand what Amazon checks

Pure white background. Product fills at least 85 percent of the frame. No borders, no watermarks, no props. Main image only; secondary images can be more relaxed.

  2. 02

    Prepare your source photo

Any photo where the product is clearly separated from the background works. If the product blends into the background, the cutout will not be clean.

  3. 03

    Process with White output

In the tool, set the output to White instead of Transparent.

  4. 04

    Check the edges

Zoom in on the result. Amazon rejects images with visible halos or rough edges. If it looks off, reprocess with a different model.

  5. 05

    Resize for Amazon specs

Main image must be at least 1000 pixels on the longest side, ideally 2000 for zoom. Use the resize tool in the editor if needed.

Tips

  • —Amazon prefers JPEG for main images, PNG for images that need transparency.
  • —The minimum resolution for zoom is 1600 pixels on the longest side.
  • —Square images (1:1) work best for the thumbnail grid.
  • —Do not add padding or borders. Amazon crops them in the thumbnail.

Common questions

Will Amazon reject a photo with a slightly grey background?

Yes, sometimes. The check is on the average background colour. Aim for pure white (255, 255, 255).

Can I use the same image for all marketplaces?

Most marketplaces have similar requirements. A white background image at 2000 pixels works on Amazon, Flipkart, eBay, and Etsy.

What about reflective products?

Reflections are hard for any tool. If the reflection is part of the product (like a mirror), keep it. If it is from a surface, remove it with the manual editor.
