Record the video normally, upload to Remova, set frame skip based on the clip length, and process. Download as MP4 with a transparent background.

Steps

  1. 01

    Record the video

Film normally. Try to keep the background simple. Good lighting matters more than the background itself.

  2. 02

    Upload to Remova

Go to /tool and switch to video mode. Upload the MP4.

  3. 03

    Set the frame skip

For a 30-second clip, frame skip of 2 is a good balance. For longer clips, use 3 or 4.

  4. 04

    Process

This takes a few minutes. First run downloads a small engine.

  5. 05

    Download and import into TikTok

Download the MP4 with alpha. Some editors strip the alpha. Import into an app that supports alpha, then export to TikTok.

Tips

  • —TikTok itself does not accept transparent video. You need to composite the cutout over a background in an editor first.
  • —CapCut supports transparent video on mobile. Compositing is a few taps.
  • —Keep the video under 30 seconds for fast processing.
  • —Record in good light. Shadows on the background make the cutout messy.

Common questions

Can I do this entirely in TikTok?

No. TikTok does not have a full background removal feature. The cutout workflow requires an external tool.

What if my video is longer than 30 seconds?

Split it into segments or use a higher frame skip. Longer clips are slower.

Will my audio be preserved?

Yes. The processor reattaches the original audio to the output.
