Removing backgrounds without Canva Pro
Canva Pro costs fifteen dollars a month. A lot of that price is templates, stock photos, and the brand kit. Background removal is one feature inside that bundle. If it is the only Pro feature you actually use, you are paying fifteen dollars a month for one thing.

- —Background removal is behind the Pro paywall, no free previews.
- —Pro is priced for the whole suite, not just the cutout tool.
- —Cutouts are locked inside Canva unless you export and re-import.
- —You lose the cutout if you cancel Pro.
Doing this outside Canva
- 01Process the image in Remova first.
- 02Download the transparent PNG.
- 03Upload it to Canva as a regular image.
- 04Use it in your design like any other asset.
The cutout is now a file you own. It works in Canva, in Figma, in Photoshop, in print. Cancel Canva Pro and the file stays yours.

Common questions
Will this work for Canva education accounts?
Yes. Any account, free or education, can upload a PNG and use it in a design.
What about Canva videos?
Remova processes video separately. Upload the clip in the tool, set frame skip based on the length, and download the result.
Does this replace the Canva Magic Studio features?
No. This replaces the background removal feature specifically. Magic Studio includes text generation and image generation, which are separate tools.
