Alternative
A free alternative to Descript for background removal
Descript changed how people edit video by making it text-based. You edit the transcript, and the video follows. It is priced at $12 to $24 per month for the non-free tiers. Background removal is one feature inside that. If you do not need the text-based editing, you do not need Descript for cutouts.

Common questions
Does Descript do better cutouts?
Not meaningfully. The cutout quality is comparable. Descript wins on transcript editing.
Can I use Remova output in Descript?
Yes. Descript accepts MP4 with alpha channels.
What if I need transcription?
Descript is a strong option if you do a lot of talking-head content. If you just need cutouts, it is overkill.
