Alternative
A free alternative to Unscreen for video background removal
Unscreen was the first browser tool that removed backgrounds from video without a green screen. It shut down in June 2026 when the parent company, Canva, consolidated its video tools. Exported videos from Unscreen are still yours, but the tool no longer processes new clips. Remova does the same job, in a browser, for free.

- 02Drop the video file.
- 03Set the output resolution and frame skip.
- 04Wait for processing. Download the MP4.
Audio is preserved. The output is MP4 with an alpha channel that composites in Premiere, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, or CapCut.

Common questions
Can I still use my Unscreen exports?
Yes. Canva's licensing allows personal and commercial use of videos exported before the shutdown. The restrictions are standard: no training use, no hate content, no illegal use.
What is the best Unscreen replacement?
For short clips and browser processing, Remova. For longer clips and professional workflows, a desktop tool with GPU acceleration is better.
What if I did not download my Unscreen videos?
They are gone. Unscreen deleted all user data on shutdown. There is no recovery.
