Car listing photos with consistent backgrounds

Process each car photo with Transparent output, then composite over a consistent background in a batch editor.

Steps

  1. 01

    Pick a background

Solid colour, gradient, or a branded dealership backdrop. Same for every car.

  2. 02

    Shoot or gather existing photos

Any clear photo of the car works. The background does not matter as long as the car is well-lit.

  3. 03

    Batch process

Up to 20 photos at a time with Transparent output.

  4. 04

    Composite over the background

Use a batch image editor or a Photoshop action to composite all the cutouts over the same background.

Tips

  • —Cars have chrome and glass, which are the hardest things for segmentation. Check the edges carefully.
  • —Consistent lighting in the original photos matters more than the background replacement.
  • —Same angle for every car makes the inventory look organised.
  • —Keep the file size under 500KB for listing portals.

Common questions

Will the windshield reflections be removed?

The tool removes the background, but reflections in the windshield stay because they are part of the car surface. If you want them gone, use the manual editor.

Can I use this for auction sites?

Yes. Copart, IAAI, and Manheim all accept standard image formats.

What about interior photos?

Interior photos do not usually need background removal. Save those edits for the exterior shots.
